When World of Warcraft is launched (with 3d acceleration enabled) it displays "failed to find a suitable display" and does not start.

Even with -opengl added as command parameter, it still displays the same message.

I confirm that World of Warcraft, with the shortcut parameter set to "c:\program files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe" -opengl
I have VirtualBox-ose version 2.2.0_OSE r18839
Guest VM settings are-
OS Type: Windows XP Base Memory: 806MB Video Memory: 32MB ACPI: enabled IO APIC: disabled VT-x/AMD-V: disabled Nested Paging: disabled PAE/NX: Disabled 3d Accelleration: enabled
Guest Operating System is Windows XP Pro, fully patched up with Guest Additions version 2.2.0r45846
Host operating system is Linux (Gentoo) using Kernel Linux version 2.6.27-gentoo-r8 (root@lyalls-pc) (gcc version 4.1.2 (Gentoo 4.1.2 p1.0.2)) #6 SMP PREEMPT Tue Apr 7 22:25:30 CST 2009
with 2G of memory using an nVidia Video Card (extract from Xorg log)

Admittedly I am running it from a network mounted drive in the VM, but I simply expect that to cause it to start slowly, not to affect it's display startup.

I did not find how to submit a new ticket, so I am appending this one, since it is very similar.
When World of Warcraft is launched (with 3d acceleration enabled) it displays "World of Warcraft was unable to start 3D acceleration. Please make sure DirectX 9.0c is installed and your video drivers are up to date." and does not start.
Windows 7 on Virtualbox 5.0.40 on Xubuntu 16.04

Please, don't reopen old bugs. Especially when this bug was closed as a duplicate.

It's not supposed to work unless you enable OpenGL mode in this game. The demo works fine here.
