Guest network stops working after several hours - adapter frozen inside VM
Reported by: | Licho | Owned by: | |

Component: | network/hostif | Version: | VirtualBox 2.1.4 |

Description
Host is ubuntu 8.10 Guest is windows server 2003 Network is of type host interface attached to tap, guest has static IP. Iptables do NAT. I got same result when running VM using virtualbox built in NAT.
After few hours of normal operation guest machine network stops working. If i connect to it using VRDP i can see that adapter (pcnet fast) does not respond to simple operations. Disabling, enabling or viewing advanced driver details never finishes and freezes.
This repeats every time so far (4 repeats).

Changing adapter caused even more troubles. Recreating machine again directly for latest virtualbox instead of reusing old fixed problem. (With default virtual network adapter).

Correction, problem still occurs no matter what network adapter is chosen.

Seems to be fixed now in latest vbox versions. I will post if it happens again.

Ok, in that case I will close the bug, please reopen if the problem happens again.
changing adapter to intel pro 1000/T seems to have fixed this problem - nearly 20 hours without disconnect now.
Only minor problem i noticed is, that adapter HW offers just 100mbit full duplex media type, while windows report "connected 1gbit".
