I have this same problem. Please fix! My setup VirtualBox 2.2.4. Installed on Windows 7 RC host.
Trying to run Astaro 7.5 beta in the guest (Linux 2.6 kernel). The installation procedure works fine, but when trying to boot the guest after the install is finished i can see grub starting - it seems the hang occures directly after Astaro changes the screen resolution.
It will also hang the console window when running it in headless mode.

If someone could reproduce this crash on a Linux host I would be interested in a core dump.

Replying to frank:

I can test it at a Linux host, but how do I generate the core dump? The only time I've seen core dump before is just a few seconds before everything goes bye, bye.

Actually the same problem as in #2696. Astaro 7.4 boots fine if VT-x / AMD-V is enabled (and available of course).

Thanks for the info. I'm expecting a new laptop with VT-x support next week :-D but hope that it will be fixed for running without it for other people running into the same problem. Or at least that it would be a error message saying that this OS require VT-x/AMD-V instead of crash.
I had just generated the core dump before i saw your message. So if it could be any help at all it can be found here http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/525639/core.6609
