Windows XP Guest's Clock runs slow when other Guest VMs are running

Reported by: David Cuddihy Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 2.2.4
Keywords: Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Linux

Description

Repro:

  1. Boot my host machine.
  2. Start VirtualBox.
  3. Start my Windows XP VM. ...I observe the clock is within a second of host's clock. Good!
  4. Start a second VM (apparently could be anything: Another Windows, Ubuntu, BSD,...doesn't matter)

...As soon as the second VM starts, the Windows XP VM's system clock falls behind.

  1. Stop the second VM.

...As soon as the second VM stops, the Windows XP VM's system clock races ahead until its caught back up with the host's clock.
