VirtualBox can't seem to find (or at least identify by name) your caps lock key. Can you think of any reason that might be happening?

Probably this:
to avoid activate caps lock accidently I converted the key to 'shift left' by creating a file ~/.Xmodmap containing
remove Lock = Caps_Lock keysym Caps_Lock = Shift_L add Shift = Shift_L
But this modification is on a user bas, not globally.

VirtualBox runs as user, only the core of the software runs in kernel mode, so it sees your user's keyboard layout. Thanks for reporting back, I will close this ticket (and try to improve on our reporting heuristics slightly).
