Description
Windows XP guest VM with several past snapshots. In the current state the guest additions ISO is not mounted, but it was mounted in one of the intermediate snapshot states.
Unaware of this, I deleted some intermediate snapshots, including the one where the ISO was mounted. I then tried to mount the ISO in the current state, and it failed with no error indication.
In virtual media manager it showed as attached to the deleted snapshot, but both Remove and Release buttons were greyed out. It could not be attached to anything else.
I resolved it by manually editing VirtualBox.xml to remove its attachment to the non-existent snapshot.
Although this happened to be the guest additions ISO, I suspect that the same would apply to any ISO, or even floppy image.
Please reopen if still relevant with VBox 4.0.4.
