Guest hang with high virtualbox cpu usage

Description
I got a hang/freeze in a guest running compiz, right after I got this warning from compiz:
OpenGL Warning: vboxCall failed with c OpenGL Warning: SHCRGL_GUEST_FN_WRITE_READ (2370520) failed with ffffffdb 0

I should add that after the guest VM window froze, my ssh connection from the host to the guest was still running fine. I was able to run top and see no processes using much CPU even though the guest VM's process in the host was using 80-100% CPU.

Please reopen if this problem persists with VBox 3.1.2 (make sure to update the guest additions as well).
