Gentoo guest freezes on Gentoo host VBox 3.0.8

Description
Upgraded to 3.0.8 from 2.2.4 and Gentoo guests would not get passed the "Freeing unused kernel memory" boot stage. The VBox process for that guest runs at 100%.
Kernel version 2.6.26 64-bit Intel XEON quad core. Running the binary package for Gentoo (virtualbox-bin).
Downgrading back to 2.2.4 works fine.
