Description
Hi
I am on Gentoo and Virtualbox 1.4.0 runs great except that when I do "net use x: \vboxsvr\VMShare" I get 'Network path can not be found'. I mounted my drive /home/zeno/VMShare as advised with "vboxmanage sharedfolder add Windows_XP -name VMShare -hostpath /home/zeno/VMShare/" and the directory does show up in Shared folders GUI in the bottom right corner of Virtualbox.
What is going on here, why can't I access my shared folder?
Thank you for your Feedback.

Yes, I installed the Guest Additions for VirtualBox 1.4.0. - I know because they show up in the StartMenu and I could uninstall them.

Interesting enough: When I start Windows XP, XP does show me the Folder I added with "vboxmanage sharedfolder add Windows_XP -name VMShare -hostpath /home/zeno/VMShare/" in the devices section of the Virtualbox 1.4.0. But When I start Windows Vista (Ultimate) then the folder I shared with above command will not show up in the devices section of Virtualbox.
So Shared folders does not work the same in Virtualbox 1.4.0 for Windows XP and Windows Vista. FYI.

Shared folders are a VM property. Folders you added for your XP VM don't show up in your Vista VM, because you didn't add them there.
There are several problems with shared folders. See ticket 57.

Well basically it (Shared Folders) does not work at all. My last comment was just an added-value information. What I wanted to say: I can not access any Shared folder neither from Windows_XP nor from Windows Vista. I believe it should be possible at least from Windows XP.

Ticket 57 deals with such shared folder issues. Try the new beta driver in there.
Have you installed the guest additions for VirtualBox 1.4.0?
