VMware Infrastructure Client hang when opening console
Reported by: | Paul Dorman | Owned by: | |

Description
I use a Windows client on my dual Opteron 244 workstation running Ubuntu Karmic with the 2.6.31-11-generic kernel. I seem to recall successfully using the VMIC software before successfully, but now it locks up each time I attempt to start a text console window to a VMware Linux VM. All other aspects of VMIC and VirtualBox operation seems fine.

As I suspect display/driver issues, I removed reinstalled the Guest Additions without Direct3D support. This did not fix the problem. Nor did uninstalling the Guest Additions altogether.

I've just created a fresh install of Windows XP, without Guest Additions and VMIC is working correctly. Note that both VMs are clean Windows installs that exist for no other purpose other than to run the Infrastructure Client.
