Description
I have a program (WISO 2006) installed in dual boot system under an original WinXP 64 installation. It runs without any problems. Parallel to WinXP a have installed Win7 on my computer.
Now I have installed the VirtualBox 3.0.12 under the Win7 64 bit system and installed a WinXP machine in this VirtualBox. It runs without any problem
However when I try do install the WISO 2006 program in the WinXP Virtual Machine after some time the installation tells me, that I can only install it under Win 98 or Win XP or Win XP and terminates.
So it seems that the Virtual Machine does not really behave as an independent WinXP machine but somehow has properties of the Win7 guest.
Thank you Anton

The program is called "WISO Börse 2006" It is not freeware, but a Demo version existed, However it has been replaced already by "WISO Börse 2009"
Can I do some sort of a test on may computer and send you the result ?

tenkros, please attach a VBox.log file of a VM session when your guest application is executed.

VBox Main GUI->choose your VM->right click->Show Log->Save... (to your hard disk)
Then attach here using the "Attach File" button.

I have been in contact with you on the problem that the programm WISO Boerse does not run in a XP machine on the VirtualBox I have sent you a logfile VBOX.log on 27 November. Is there any hope that my problem will be resolved in a later version of the VirtualBox ?

Thank you Anton

No, I was just wondering if you were perhaps running a completely unpatched XP. If you tell me where I can find the demo version (assuming it also refuses to install), then I can try it out.

The programm WISO Boerse 2006 has been replaced in the meantime already by a version 2009. Therefore it is not possible to find a demo anymore.
Unfortunately I have to use the older version because of all my old data.
I will install a Windows 2000 on the VMBOX and try this one now.

Anton, as far as I know WISO Börse is from Buhl Data, and it requires at least Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP1. Did you try installing WISO Börse with these services packs?
!!! Success !!!
I have installed now Windows 2000 and its SP4 The WISO Börse works with Windows 2000
(Would I have to install SP1 for Win XP in addition to SP4 ? I thought SP4 would include SP1)
Thank you for everything
Anton

The newest service pack for Win XP is SP3, for Win 2000 it's SP4. Just stay with your configuration as it works now for you. Closing this ticket.

No need to reopen a ticket...
Is WISO 2006 freeware ? If yes, can you give us a link to download WISO 2006 ?
Generally VirtualBox (and other virtualizers) behaves *almost* the same as real hardware. The differences are mostly in corner cases, such as rare machine instructions, etc... Standard instructions are executed perfectly.
