CentOS 5.4 Install Hangs
Reported by: | Aaron Faby | Owned by: | |
---|---|---|---|
Component: | other | Version: | VirtualBox 3.1.0 |
Keywords: | centos install hang | Cc: | |
Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Mac OS X |
Description
Specs:
Xserve Dual Quad Core 2.26 Ghz Nehalem CPU (8 cores) 16GB RAM 2TB RAID 10 Virtual Box 3.1.0 Snow Leopard 10.6.2 OS, 64 bit kernel
Guest OS: CentOS 5.4
I cannot get CentOS to install. I run through the process, but when it gets to the part where it formats the file system, it will stop at a random percentage. It stopped once at 22%, once at 40% and once at 23%. I can leave it there for a while and it never completes.
I have VT-x, IO APIC, and Nested Paging turned on. I've tried with PAE both on an off with no luck. Attached is the VBox.log.

Follow Up:
My initial install attempts were using 2 cores and 4 GB of RAM. I just tried again with only 1 CPU core and only 2 GB of RAM and now it worked.
If you need another VBox.log with the lower RAM and CPU core settings, let me know.
