Menu Item vanished/update not working

Description
I had VB 3.0.12 installed, downloaded the newest 3.1 version (Karmic, AMD64, deb) and tried to install it with Package manager. The Gdebi complained about incompatible versions, so I had to uninstall the old version first and was then able to install 3.1. Now the Icon in the Application Menu (normally under "Other") is gone (and with it of course the panel launcher).

The conflict of the two different versions is intended. Doing so a user has the chance to decide if he wants to stay at the 3.0.x version or if he wants to go to the more recent 3.1.x version. I don't know of any way to make this upgrade more smoother.
The application icon is indeed gone but this is a known issue and reported elsewhere. No solution in sight. The icon is back after the first reboot. If you know the reason why this icon doesn't appear immediately after the package is installed, feel free to give me a note. I will read it despite the fact that I will close this bug.
