Description
Hi,
I have updated my ubuntu-vm from a 7er Ubuntu to a 9er version. Ever since I did so, the above mentioned error message appears. Host is WinXP, SP3, 3 GHz, 4GB Ram, Gforce 9600 GT. Guest is Ubuntu 9, 1GB Ram, 128MB Graphic memory. Primary master is the ubuntu.vdi Secondary master is VBoxGuestAdditions.iso Tried the VBoxGuestAdditions_2.2.0_BETA2.iso as well - with the same result. VBox version: 3.1.2
I'm well aware, that a couple of years ago a similar ticket has been created. http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/158 I tried to do what is discribed there, however with no visible success. Google leads me nowhere useful (apart from this site here)
Is there any more information you need?
Thank you for your time, Kai

Hi Michael, thank you for replying :)
What exactly do you mean by "reinstall the Guest Additions"? What I did was: Removing the virtual CD-Rom device and adding a new one pointing to the gest additions.
Log is attached - I hope, it helps :)

In order for X.Org to find the vboxvideo driver you need to actually install the Additions from the ISO image that you inserted into the virtual machine (the user manual explains how to do this). If the Additions are not installed then X.Org will detect that it is running inside of VirtualBox and try to load the driver, but if it can't find it it will simply print out that message and try a fallback driver. So the message is basically just X.Org's way of saying "please install the Guest Additions" :)

Just to be clear about this, did you reinstall the Guest Additions into the VM? This is required after an upgrade of the guest OS to a new version. And could you please attach (not copy and paste :) ) a log file from a run of the VM? Thanks.
