Vbox installer freezes at instalation of Vbox network drivers on host system.

Component: | installer | Version: | VirtualBox 3.1.2 |

Description
The installer freezes at the instalation of the vbox network driver, then stops my physical network card from functioning properly (meaning i cannot connect to the network at all til I froce the installer to close and restart my computer).
And now my system cannot go into standby, or hibernate. It freezes when I try to do so.
I'm guessing it's a problem with the drivers for the Vbox host only network adapter, the computer cannot turn them off because they are not a physical device. Therefore resulting in a system lockup and not going into hibernate, or standby.
I have an (old) HP pavilion 753 CTO. Built in NIC.

What was the last VBox version that worked ok for you?
What third-party networking-related software (like VPN, Antivirus, Firewall or virtualization software) do you have installed on your host?
Please also attach MSI & Setup API log files for your VBox installation here. (make sure you remove/backup the setupapi.log, setupapi.app.log and setupapi.dev.log files mentioned in the "Driver Installation Log" section of the above document, to produce a fresh log)
