Description (last modified by )
I have the newest version of virtual box and it crashes on my PC constantly. Running Vista 64 Ultimate. However, it used to run with out any issues, until I replaced my hard drive. My previous 500gig HD died on me and I replaced it with 1 TB HD and now it won't work at all. Same OS, same hardware configuration. The only difference is that instead of running off a 500GB HD, I am running off a 1TB drive instead.
So, I have to assume that since nothing has changed and I am running the same exact hardware except for a 1TB drive instead of my previous 500GB, that Virtualbox does not like running off a large hard drive in Windows? I have been fighting this problem on the forums for a few months now.

Crashes when doing what exactly? Running a VM or just starting the GUI? If it's the former, then please attach the VM's VBox.log.

It crashes constantly during any OS install, and I have tried about 5 or 6 different ISOs. I am at work but I can try to attach that log file when I get home, where is that log file located?
Thanks

Can you provide a minidump of such a crash? See here at the very end of the page for information about minidumps.

Well, I modified the system settings to do small memory dumps into a particular directory like those links told me to, but I am not getting any dump files when VB crashes. Is there is a flag in VB I need to do to create such dumps?

install the debugging tools as described in that article run "windbg -I" to set it as default debugger optionally, disable Windows Error Reporting (WER), I don't use it and I don't know if it interferes with the debugger
when an app crashes, the debugger starts and you must type ".dump crashfile.dmp" at the debugger's command line to save a minidump
