Reported by: | Giovanni Maggini | Owned by: | |

Component: | host support | Version: | VirtualBox 3.1.4 |
Keywords: | Cc: | ||
Guest type: | Windows | Host type: | Mac OS X |
Description
When working with VirtualBox (fullscreen or windowed makes no difference) it happens that VM freezes on the displayed screen, mouse works but nothing can be clicked anymore.
When that happens, CPU consumption on the HOST machine (MacBook Pro 15" 2.66ghz 4GB ram June 09) goes to 100%, with virtualbox using both CPU cores at 100%.
VM does not respond anymore to "Send ctrl-alt-del", and if paused and then resumed afterwards, it displays a black screen with small squares as pictured in the attached screenshot.
While VirtualBox does not display it as a VM hang, the only option is to restart VM and consequent loss of work.
Guest OS is Windows 7 x64 Italian. VM is configured with: 2xCPU, 1.5GB ram, IDE virtual hard drive, No sound, 64MB shared memory, 2D Acceleration enabled (please note that the problem exists also without 2D acceleration enabled). PAE/NX Bit is disabled, Nested Paging + AMD/V and IntelVT-X are Enabled.
