Description (last modified by )
I installed virtualbox on host windows xp SP3 working well for long . When i try to launch the virtualbox tool to install a guest, it crashes my windows OS with a fatal error which i think is 0x0000007b and restart immediately my computer. I smell that it could be a problem of AHCI SATA support on my host by virtualbox. My harddisk storage is setted in AHCI and not IDE in my BIOS. Do you have a fix for this or do i need to change AHCI to IDE ? regards. Florent

Not at all... I installed vmware in place of virtualbox to try another way and it worked... In the past also, i had ubuntu on the same desktop native and installed virtualbox to play a windows xp guest without any troubles. Virtualbox don't like my desktop configuration it seems...

This crash should be unrelated to your host hard disk controller setting. Do you have any other virtualization product running in parallel to VirtualBox?
