Description (last modified by )
My host and guest are both 64-bit Ubuntu 9.10. When the guest boots, it does so in text mode; the guest display is usually a black rectangle with a light grey surround, making it impossible to (for example) use the Grub menu.
If, on a booted system, I use RightCtrl+F1 to move to a text-mode virtual console, the display is garbled; see the attached interactive.png. At the very least (as shown here), the line length seems to be wrong and the background colour, which should be black, is also wrong. Sometimes, characters I type don't appear at all. This makes it difficult or impossible to (for example) rescue a system on which X won't start.
I'll also attach my VirtualBox log.
