taking a live snapshot results in invalid state

3.1.6-59338_Debian_lenny, guest is also Lenny.

I tried to take a snapshot of the guest and it went to invalid state. See attached log. Trying to control the VM produces only following error messages. I had to kill the VBoxHeadless process of the VM.
