Description
With Virtualbox 3.1.8 the "net filter" driver for bridged networking is not installed/ fails to install during Windows Setup (VirtualBox-3.1.8-61349-Win.exe).
Event Viewer reports:
Service "VBoxNetFlt Service" failed to start because the following error: The system can not find the file specified.

It seems like you have inf cache corrupt. Could you try to uninstall VirtualBox, reboot (just for sanity), remove the %SystemRoot%\inf\INFCACHE.1 file (for XP), reboot and try to install again.
