Top in RIPLinux freezes guest

Description
I've downloaded latest (1.5) virtualbox for WinXP. I've installed it, created virtual machine with 512MB RAM, no HDD and RIPLinux ISO as CD Image. When I log into guest system and issue "top" command, guest freezes and do not respond to reset. I must pause it and resume it to restart. I've tried to add HDD, change guest system from Linux 2.6 to Unknown but it didn't help.
RIPLinux is rather simple linux distribution used for recovery. http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/looplinux/rip/RIPLinux-2.9.iso I am running Dual Core Pentium.
