brigded network stops when virtual host changes mac address

Problem:
When i change the mac address in the running guest system, there is no more network connectivitiy for the guest.

I can change the MAC adress in my guest:
ifconfig eth0 down ifconfig eth0 hw ether <new mac address> ifconfig eth0 up
Workaround:
ifconfig eth0 promisc
Setting the interface into promiscous mode re-establishes network connectivity.
