Description
I have been using VirtualBox for several months now and love it. I don't remember what version I started with but have been doing upgrades whenever they are announced. Up until the upgrade to VirtualBox-3.2.6-63112-Win.exe this process was smooth. However I upgraded to VirtualBox-3.2.6-63112-Win.exe (from 3.2.4 r62467) and noticed two problems. First off when I tried to load my VDI files (a Windows XP guest on Windows 7 host) the Windows XP boot reported file system errors and had to run chkdsk. This was bad enough. Then after this apparently was completed, I could tell I did not have full network access. I had an IP address and could ping devices via their IP address but the DNS lookup was not working. I tried various investigations and even tried to uninstall and reinstall the previous version but to no avail.
So I restored my Windows 7 OS from full image backup and then restored my VDI files from backup and I was back to where I was before the upgrade. I worked on my PC for a couple more days and tried the upgrade again after a fresh reboot. But I got the same type of errors.
This is making me nervous about future upgrades.
