Description (last modified by )
Hi all !
In continuation of bug #53, I want to inform you that Red Hat Linux 7 crashes when trying to install on VirtualBox.
problem 1: With normal install mode it crashes, because it cannot find VGA-compatible video modes.
problem 2: With text-based install it crashes when trying to install itself.
The same ISO works with MS Virtual PC and with VMware.
Host: Windows XP SP2, VBox 1.5.0, Athlon XP.

Bug opened on 28.Sep.2007.
Problem 2: to me, looks like DMA or virtual Hard Disk bug.

Good news: Red Hat Linux 7 setups & works now on VirtualBox 1.5.2 with VT extensions enabled.
Tested on: Windows XP SP2, Core 2 Q6600 CPU, VBox 1.5.2 + VT.
Bad news: it cannot detect the VGA video card, so it works in text-mode only. (Xconfigurator didn't help, and I'm not X Window Server expert to workaround that issue)
Another bad news, is that it still doesn't works without VT. (fails during setup/init procedure)

This bug is still valid. Unbelievable.
Host: Mandriva Linux 2010, x64, Core 2 Q6600, VBox 3.2.0-BETA1 (VT-x = off)
Guest: Red Hat Linux 7 (kernel 2.2, year 2000)
Please change component to "software virtualization engine", guest to "Linux", and update Vbox version.
How can I upload the ISO to you ?
