VB freezes under intensive work (Sandra)

Description
To simulate some heavy work I installed 'Sandra XI SP1 (2007.3.11.22)' in a WinXP Pro SP2 vmachine with 256MB.
VB freezes if running the following Sandra tests:
- Werkzeuge: Analyse und Hinweise zur Leistungsverbesserung
- Werkzeuge: Leistungs-Index
- Werkzeuge: Burn-in-test (disabled: Energie-Effizienz, Wechseldatenträger, CD-ROM/DVD Laufwerke)
Host system: Athlon64 X2 4400+ with enabled Cool'n'Quiet, installed AMD CPU drivers and the power management profile is set to "Minimal power consumption". In this configuration the CPU is running with about 1GHz in idle mode.
