Hi, I loaded it from the Terminal and the error messages are:

VirtualBox Qt WARNING: X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169

Major opcode: 147 Minor opcode: 3 Resource id: 0x0

Qt WARNING: Failed to open device Qt WARNING: X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169

Major opcode: 147 Minor opcode: 3 Resource id: 0x0

Qt WARNING: Failed to open device Segmentation fault (core dumped)

The xml format in 1.5.2 is not forward compatible with 1.5.52. That at least one thing, but I can't really say what the segmentation fault is all about.

You also need to make sure the 1.5.52 VBox daemon is not running when trying 1.5.2. They are not compatible. That's a likely cause of your problem.

Hum... how to check it?

I tried: nagaozen@nagaozen-ubuntu-704:~$ grep vbox /etc/services vboxd 20012/tcp # voice box system vboxd 20012/udp nagaozen@nagaozen-ubuntu-704:~$

Does this mean something?

No, this is completely unrelated (vboxd == voice box system). Please make sure that no VBoxSVC daemon of the SVN version is running:

/bin/ps aux | grep VBox

should not list any entries (except the grep command itself).

Is this still an issue?

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

These errors should not occur with VirtualBox 1.5.4. Even if the xml format between the current SVN version and version 1.5.4 is different, you should now get a clear error message which is stating where the problem is. Closing.
