AutoCAD Crashes VirtualBox
Reported by: | Owen Whitehouse | Owned by:

Component: | guest additions | Version: | VirtualBox 4.0.2 |
Keywords: | CAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, GuestAdditions | Cc:
Guest type: | other | Host type: | other |
Description (last modified by )
The 4.0.2 version of the Guest Additions cause guests to crash when used with AutoCAD or other CAD applications, like SketchUp.
Host is Windows 7 Enterprise x64, guest is any version of Windows.
After upgrading VirtualBox to 4.0.2, I began upgrading GuestAdditions in each VM. After I had a few done, I noticed that running AutoCAD caused the entire VM to go immediately to a restart, no warnings. Looking through the logs shows an automatic reset of the VM after enabling GL mode.

Old version of Guestadds solving this problem. Try degrading it to version 3.2.1!

gojkok, which was the highest version of the Guest Additions you tried which did not work? There are some known bugs in older 4.0.x releases, did you try the 4.0.8 Additions?

frank, do I need to have version 4.0.8 of VB to install the 4.0.8 version of Guest Additions? BTW, I downgraded my Guest Additions to 3.2.6 and it works well enough.

I just upgraded to v4.1 and installed latest version of the Guest Additions. The AutoCAD crash is still occurring.

Still reproducible with VBox 4.1.2? Can you provide a Windows crash dump when this happens?
