after enabling shared folders I cannot boot into guest ubuntu
when i use recovery mode, i can see the message "Starting VirtualBox Guest Additions" and there is a process "/sbin/modprobe vboxsf" hanging indefinitely,

markymark, which VBox version are you using and which version of the Guest Additions?

VBox 4.0.10 r72479 and the addition which comes with it.
Before I was running 3.0.8 without any issues.

The same problem happens on my computer I was able to locate the feature which breaks it on mine: selecting ICH9 with IO-APIC. Without IO-APIC its fine.
