Description (last modified by )
Running the development release of Ubuntu (11.10 alpha 2) in virtualbox 4.0.10. Although 3D is enabled and the guest additions are installed, Ubuntu does not detect the availability of 3D, and falls back to a 2D interface. When compiz is run from the command-line, I get the following output:
{{{Compiz (opengl) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing Compiz (opengl) - Fatal: Software rendering detected}}}
My glxinfo output will be attached.

I think this is no longer relevant. VBox 4.3 3D should work fine with recent Ubuntu distros.
Please give a try to VBox 4.3 and 4.3 Additions, and re-open if needed.
