Description
This is on 64-bit Windows (XP64, Vista64) at least:
When using a static disk, during an install the guest cannot properly partition the disk. Have tried Linux (Ubuntu 7.10) and FreeBSD 6.2.
Using a Dynamic disc this problem does not occur.

We believe we fixed this problem in our SVN. The problem is that fixed-size disks are created as sparse files. Writing to near the end of a sparse file may take ages on Windows. The next version of VirtualBox will create the whole fixed-size disk when the disk is actually created. This may take some time but has the benefit that the guest will not observe such huge execution times when writing the partition table. Apart from this, the user will have the guarantee during disk creation that there is enough space for the disk available on the host disk.
