Xorg stops responding at exit

Reported by: Sam Morris Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 4.1.4

Description

When I log out of my VM, Xorg, goes into uninterruptable sleep at the point where it would normally exit. I think this has happened since VirtualBox 4.1.2.

Host is Windows Vista, guest is Linux 3.0.

NB, I can ssh into the VM and tell it to shut down. But switching to another VT fails, and here is no way to further interact with the VM via the GUI.

This is somehow related to #9758. If I boot the VM up and log in, I can log out just fine. It's only after I suspend and resume, triggering #9758 in the process, that I can no longer log out without Xorg dying.

Still relevant with VBox 4.1.6? If so, does anything change if you use the PIIX3 chipset (not the ICH9 one)?
