Installing guest additions on Windows XP seemingly hangs

When installing the Guest additions (in VirtualBox 1.5.4) on Windows XP, the installer gets to the stage where it prints:

Installing Drivers...
Output folder: C:\Program Files\innotek VirtualBox Guest Additions

Then it appears to hang. However, if the installer window is moved to the side, it is revealed that it is actually awaiting the user to confirm installation of the non-WHQL-approved video driver. This window appears behind the installer window and does not show up on the taskbar--I only noticed it because I accidentally moved the Additions installer window to the side by accident when I meant to move a Windows Update window instead.

Is this still an issue with current additions (VirtualBox 1.6.4)?

The same thing happens in 2.02 when the installer gets to the point where it says "Installing video driver...".

The same thing happens in 2.0.4 as well. After clicking on "Continue Anyway", the installer hangs at the "Installing video driver..." point.

I'm not sure this is the same issue:

With 2.0.6 - I click on 'Install Guest Additions...' and nothing happens at all. The guest machine is still running and the 'Install Guest Additions...' option is not greyed-out, so I am not certain whether 'hangs' is the right term as nothing has actually happened - I get no feedback, log or prompt - I move the window as described but there is nothing else going on.

If nothing happens then most probably the autostart function of your guest windows is disabled. Right click on the CDROM icon of your guest and select 'Autostart'.

I can confirm that this still happens on VirtualBox 2.2.4. Fortunately this ticket told me how to fix it, but it would be nice if the guest additions installer brought the driver signing warning to the front where we can see it...

I'm not sure if we can do anything about that. It just sometimes happens. I've renamed #4744 to cover WHQL certification of the VirtualBox Windows guest & host drivers.
